HP Smart Tank 790 Printer Manual
Around a quarter of the plastic in the housing should consist of recycled printers. But the design is also obviously recycled. The case largely corresponds to that of the current Officejet office inkjet printers, Neverstop toner tankers, or inexpensive Laserjet models and is quite compact. HP Smart Tank 790 with 15 ipm in black and white and 9 ipm in color, it is, however, a bit more nimble despite the same print head. So it’s not particularly fast. New for an HP ink tanker is the closed paper cassette with a decent capacity of up to 250 sheets – measured in normal paper. There is no rear feed or a photo paper tray. All media, plain paper, photo paper, labels, or envelopes belong in the (only) main compartment. Automatic duplex printing (in A4) and borderless printing in standard formats from A4 down to 10×15 cm postcards are possible. Only the three dye colors cyan, magenta, and yellow are used on glossy paper. The pigmented text black is only used on matt media and should not be smudge-proof. The flatbed scanner has a flat end to the housing on two sides and allows originals to be removed easily. The resolution of the CIS sensor is the usual 1,200 dpi optical. This is supported by an ADF attachment in simplex design for up to 35 sheets. The maximum grammage that can be processed is given as 95 g / m². For a rather simple printer from HP, a “real” (analog) fax function with 100-sheet page memory is almost unusual. A special feature of the “large” Smart Tank is the operating concept. When it is switched off, you cannot see any control elements (apart from the on / off switch on the lower left-hand side). These are hidden on the upper edge and are integrated into the housing, in the form of a luminous monochrome display in an extra-wide design. HP calls the whole “Magic Touch Panel”. That seems chic but could cause ergonomic problems as it is not possible to angle it. To the right and left of the “actual” display there are sensor buttons with the same optics, which only light up when required and are therefore visible and usable. This includes “Cancel” (red), “Help” and “Back”. Otherwise, HP Smart Tank 790 is still the case that operation via a smartphone (or computer) with the “Smart App” is in the foreground. From there, you can print documents or photos, start scans, or monitor the printer itself.
