With the Canon PIXMA MG6821, Canon has sacrificed some proven features such as a covered paper cassette or a second input tray for compactness. Only a maximum of 100 sheets fit in the paper feed. In addition, in contrast to the previous models, the compartment is open and can therefore easily collect dust. The paper tray is also limited to a foldable but very narrow catch that doesn’t make a particularly stable impression. This multifunction printer is limited to printing, scanning and copying. A fax is not installed. The results in printing, scanning and copying are convincing. The numerous nozzle flushing cycles are at the expense of ink consumption. It is therefore not surprising that the bottom line is that the multifunction printer has a very good price-performance ratio. The combination printer is geared towards cloud services. Under the menu item “Cloud” we go directly to services such as Dropbox, Evernote or Google Drive, but also to social media offers such as Facebook, Twitter or image services such as Picasa. In addition to this cloud link orientation, the Canon PIXMA MG6821 multifunction printer also masters the widespread mobile printing standards such as Apple AirPrint or Google Cloudprint. It can also be addressed directly from a smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi Direct. Photographers with a camera that has a Wi-Fi Pictbridge interface can send pictures directly from the device to the combination device. Alternatively, memory cards can be inserted into the slots on the housing – for example for the SD or Memory Stick Duo formats.
