The camera’s APS-C sensor offers excellent depth-of-field control – for successful photos with attractive background blur that emphasizes the subjects in the frame. Even when recording fast-moving or distant subjects, such as birds in flight, the 24.1 megapixels convince with an excellent resolution. The sensor captures high-resolution images with remarkable low-light characteristics – a good prerequisite for portraits in natural ambient light. Eye AF ensures pinpoint focus on the eye during Live View shooting, making it easier to take portraits. Continuous shooting at up to 7 frames per second enables precise tracking of moving objects. Closely related to the professional range, the Canon EOS Rebel T8i features the EOS iTR (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition) autofocus (AF) system and a 220,000-pixel light metering sensor (RGB and IR). The exposure data is automatically compared with the AF sensor, which processes it with high reaction speed and precision. The intuitively operated rotatable and swiveling touchscreen enables maximum flexibility when taking pictures from difficult angles: Comfortable pictures from interesting perspectives are no problem. The focus tracking of the camera is fast and precise with 45 AF cross sensors or Canon Dual Pixel CMOS AF. Exposure metering combined with face detection is now even more reliable. The camera records in Full HD with up to 60p and with impressive 4K up to 25p. This is a significant improvement over the previous model and offers more options for time-lapse videos and automatic scene selection. To compensate for the shake that is sometimes unavoidable when shooting handheld video, the camera features 5-axis Movie Digital IS for smooth and steady video. Connectivity options now offer even more ways to share results. With 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, photographers can connect the Canon EOS Rebel T8i to their iOS or Android device via the Canon Camera Connect app. This allows photos and videos to be transferred to the mobile device, checked there and uploaded to social networks. With DPP Express for iPad, a complete RAW workflow is easily available on the go. The automatic image synchronization takes place with the Image Transfer Utility for backing up the photos and videos on the user’s PC – valuable recordings can no longer be lost.
