The Canon imageFORMULA DR-S250N can be controlled from computers or mobile devices. With a simplified range of functions, driverless scanning is also possible directly from the browser. Even then, PDF documents are searchable thanks to integrated OCR. As with most document scanners, the input format is automatically recognized. A mixed supply of sheets and receipts of any kind is therefore generally possible. Originals must be at least 50.8 by 54 mm in size. Horizontally it ends at just under 216 mm and vertically at 355 mm – that’s slightly larger than A4. There is then a scanning speed of 50 ppm in simplex and 100 ipm in duplex – thanks to the (usual) second scan line without any loss of time. Both specifications apply to the scan in the standard resolution of 200 dpi. If you set a level higher to 300 dpi, the speed is reduced to 40 ppm (simplex) or 80 ipm in a duplex. A maximum of 600 dpi can be set – this corresponds to the native resolution of the two sensors. Up to 60 originals can be loaded into the feeder in one go. Canon specifies the intended maximum scan volume as 9,000 scans per working day. A corresponding roller system is integrated to prevent incorrect or double feeds. If an error does occur, the integrated ultrasonic sensor detects this and stops the ongoing job for manual conflict resolution. The Canon imageFORMULA DR-S250N can either be connected directly to a computer via USB (3.2 Gen1) or integrated into a network via (Gigabit) Ethernet. There is an additional USB host exclusively for connecting an NFC adapter, which can then be used for user identification on the server.
