The Canon MAXIFY GX4020 seems particularly interesting, high print volumes can be managed cost-effectively and efficiently. The device is operated entirely from the front using a color touch screen and supports printing on a wide range of media and card stock. The rear manual feed for a further 100 sheets (measured in normal paper) is almost without restrictions. Normal paper in smaller formats or special paper (e.g. glossy photo paper) or envelopes can also be inserted there. The printing unit is probably based on the same thermal head, but the speed has been reduced somewhat. In standard quality on plain paper, up to 18 prints per minute (ipm) in B/W or 10 ipm in color mode can be achieved. With automatic duplex printing, the limitations are low in absolute terms: 10 ipm in B/W or 8 ipm in colour. This multifunction inkjet printer does not work with classic ink cartridges, but with ink tanks that are filled with ink directly. This not only saves resources but also reduces the cost per printed page. The scope of delivery already includes ink for several thousand pages. In addition, the Canon MAXIFY GX4020 offers solid network functionality via LAN and WLAN, support for direct printing from tablets and smartphones via the app, a flatbed scanner with automatic top loading and a copy function. A USB interface is sufficient for connection to a computer. For integration into a network or for mobile printing, on the other hand, a connection via Ethernet (10/100 Mbit) or WiFi is required. The latter now also works with 5 GHz and the current WPA3 standard including TLS 1.3. A quick wireless connection can be set up via Wifi Direct. However, there is no supporting Bluetooth or an NFC label.
